Visited yesterday (July 1) for the first time. Was able to take an abbreviated tour as the vines had just been treated and also was able to taste a choice of five wines, no charge for the tasting. The setting for tasting is nice, tables with clothes so we could sit rather than stand at a bar. The selection of whites, reds and dessert wines was fairly large and the young lady who served us was very pleasant and knowledgeable. The wines - Jewell Towne bottles wines from their own grapes and from grapes they purchase, and in some instances bottle the same wine with slightly different names if their grapes or purchased. In every case we liked the wines from Jewell Towne grapes best, those receiving a 4 or 5 on our scale of 1-5. We purchased three bottles of our favorites - Cabernet Sauvignon, Marechal Foch 2015 and New Hampshire Port 2015. An added bonus was the availability for purchase of a cracker and cheese plate to enjoy while tasting the wine. Would definitely recommend a trip to the winery for a tasting, and purchasing your favorite wines. A nice day out. Well done Jewell Towne Vineyards

The Icewine from here is outstanding, one of the best in the state. I honestly tried many different places and nothing was more satisfying then this vineyard! Great hospitality!

This place is awesome! A great place to spend a couple of hours, tasting the best wines, being catered to by a very pleasant staff, and just plain relaxing. And if you happen to know little about wines, the staff is quite knowledgeable and happy to answer all questions. Debbie and I plan to return often.

Jewell Towne wines have become staples in our home, especially Marechal Foch and South Hampton Red.

Treat yourself by visiting them.

About Winery and Wines

Our New Hampshire winery, Jewell Towne Vineyards, started with six grapevines planted in 1982 by Dr Peter Oldak, an Emergency Department physician. He eventually planted over 60 varieties of grapes to determine which varieties survive New Hampshire winters, ripen in the summer, and make quality wine. Since then, Peter has pioneeered viticulture and winemaking in New Hampshire. In 1990, Peter and his wife Brenda, a Clinical Specialist in Nursing, established Jewell Towne Vineyards. Located in South Hampton, our New Hampshire Winery was situated on the southward facing slopes of the Powwow River and possessed an ideal microclimate for growing grapes. Dr Oldak has mentored many beginning grape growers and wine makers, some of whom have later established their own commercial wineries. Along with the reputation for growing consistently , high quality grapes and making stellar wine, Peter lead the way for the wine industry and its related agri-tourism in the state of New Hampshire. Peter shares his expertise with other wineries, works with the NH State Liquor Commission, and has introduced important winery specific legislation - including the enabling legislation for the sale of wine at Farmers' Markets. He has founded and served as President of the New Hampshire Winery Association. Peter is also the Chairperson of the New Hampshire Chapter of the American Wine Society.

Currently Jewell Towne Vineyards produces approximately nine thousand cases a year. Our wine can be found in over 150 stores and restaurants in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Jewell Towne Vineyard s wine is carried by the Hannaford, Market Basket, and Shaws supermarkets, and by the New Hampshire State Liquor Stores. We participate at the Portsmouth, Concord, and Greenland Farmers' Markets in New Hampshire, and the Newburyport, and Gloucester Farmers Markets in Massachusetts. Jewell Towne Vineyards takes pride in being a New Hampshire Winery and producing wines of superior quality. Jewell Towne Vineyards has garnered the award for the best New Hampshire wine at six of the ten last wine competions held at the Eastern States Exposition. We delight in making our visitors' experience inviting, educational, and memorable. We welcome you to come visit us and enjoy a wine tasting and tour.
