About Winery and Wines

Our history begins at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s thanks to the intuition of the winemaker Giovanni Losito. During a visit to the Terre del Gargano, in northern Puglia, he noticed the coexistence of seas, mountains, large expanses of fertile land and excellent climate for quality viticulture, so he decided to plant new vineyards there, moving with the whole family from Rutigliano (province of Bari) in Foggia. A few years later Giovanni also benefits from the help of his son Leonardo who shares his father's passion for viticulture so much that he also pursues oenological studies. It was no longer enough for Leonardo to produce only grapes, so he decided to found the first family winery in 1994 and four years later, in 1998, he made a courageous choice of sensibility: converting vineyards to organic farming to obtain healthier grapes and wines, decades before public opinion was sensitized on this subject. In 2012, Leonardo's sons, Giovanni and Aurelia, decided to follow in the footsteps of their fathers, inaugurating together a new, modern winery immersed in their own vineyards. Giovanni, also an oenologist, follows both wine and wine production with his father, as well as commercial aspects, while Aurelia dedicates itself to foreign markets, making known the fruit of the work of the Losito family all over the world. Today the company owns 60 hectares between the Terre del Gargano and the Tavoliere delle Puglie, making its own organic grapes.

Our vineyards are located in the Terre del Gargano, on the border with the Tavoliere delle Puglie. They are a renowned tourist destination both thanks to their characteristic and intrinsic countries of history, and thanks to the forest, maritime and mountain landscapes. We have personally managed our vineyards for three generations. We raise them in counter-espalier with spurred cordon pruning, with a planting layout of 1.20 cm on the row and 220 cm between the rows, a plant density of 4000 plants per hectare and an average annual production of 10 T / Ha . The land is flat, of medium consistency tending to clayey and enjoys a climate with scarce rainy and cold winters, long, hot and dry summers with some precipitation after mid-August, which is good for the ripening of the grapes. We supply water to our vineyards only in case of need, applying a slight stress to concentrate the quality in the grapes. We irrigate by sub-irrigation, a technique for which we supply water directly to the roots to avoid waste.
