Misha’s Vineyard is spectacularly located on the edge of Lake Dunstan in the Bendigo sub-region of Central Otago – the Pinot Noir capital of New Zealand. The sun drenched north-west facing terraces of the 57 hectare estate provide optimal conditions for producing world-class Pinot Noir and aromatic white varieties. Owners Andy & Misha Wilkinson established the vineyard with a 'no compromise' philosophy which requires an exacting viticulture regime, hand-picking, and considerate winemaking methodologies, in order to produce premium New Zealand wines to suit a defined and discerning market. Of the 26 hectares of planted vineyard two-thirds is planted in Pinot Noir vines where eight clones of Pommard and Dijon vines were selected (all grafted on disease-resistant American rootstock), in order to blend and select for the ultimate in consistency and quality and to produce a complexity of flavours representing the best of New Zealand Pinot Noir. The other varietals planted include Pinot Gris, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Gewürztraminer. Internationally renowned winemaker Olly Masters has been at the helm of the winemaking from the outset and the wines consistently receive outstanding accolades around the world. Misha’s Vineyard wines are now available in premium hotels, restaurants and fine wine retailers in more than 20 countries. Misha’s Vineyard was named one of New Zealand’s Top 20 Wine Producers by the esteemed Decanter (UK) magazine. Misha's Vineyard Tasting Room is located on the edge of the town of Cromwell facing Lake Dunstan, about 10 minutes from the vineyard. The beautiful Tasting Room offers guest a range of wines to enjoy for a small tasting fee that's redeemable on any purchase of wine. Light snacks are also available in the Tasting Room which is open 10 - 4pm every day. Misha's Vineyard produces a range of 10 wines including several Pinot Noirs and a Sauvignon Blanc, two styles of Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Rose, Gewurztraminer and a late harvest Gewurztraminer. The Pinot Noir is blended from a range of 8 clones grown on the vineyard in order to produce a complexity of flavours. The white wines are all crafted with a portion of wild fermentation to produce textural styles with good aging ability. All Misha's Vineyard wines are crafted from hand-picked estate-grown fruit. Internationally renowned winemaker Oliver "Olly" Masters has crafted the wines from the outset and with his considerate style, uses minimalist and traditional winemaking techniques which allow the wines to reflect their unique site.
