Sobre la bodega y los vinos

Mount Michael Wines, at the breathtakingly beautiful Lowburn, Central Otago, presents perfect growing conditions for Pinot Noir with its extremes of temperature and mineral rich soils. Our sunny northeasterly aspect on a gentle slope running down to the lake provides all the right elements for reducing the risk of frost. The estate is boutique by any standard, producing around 3,000 cases of wine annually. Our vines are hand-tended with yields kept low to augment concentration in the fruit. In 1994 the Mount Michael Vineyard arose out of Sue and Martin Anderson’s desire to live and run a business in Central Otago. The couple spent nearly two years finding the right site; a six hectare plot overlooking the Wanaka – Queenstown turnoff at Cromwell. An initial three-hectare vineyard was planted with approximately half Chardonnay grapes and the other half in Pinot Noir grapes.
