About Winery and Wines

At Quinta do Casal Monteiro we are passionate about the art of winemaking, excelling to take special care, love and attention into every step of the vinification process. When it comes to turn carefully grown grapes into fine wine we combined our predecessors’ knowledge with state of the art technology. It is this great respect for the land and a strong passion in the art of wine making that drives our quest to ultimately produce every year, the best wine our Terroir has to offer. The wine making art at Quinta do Casal Monteiro starts with the land. We take our role as custodians of the land very seriously, as such we adopt traditional viticulture methods allied with ecological integrated management practice to sustain our vines. Our vines are currently divided in two different Terroirs: The fertile Alluvial - Sandy Loam soil and the less fertile Sandy soil. Both these soils are in a very close proximity to the river Tagus that regulates and controls the maturation of the grapes.
