We were looking for quintas in the area and we had no success finding an open one during late October but we were told about this quinta and it was open! And it is a very beautiful Quinta with very friendly people who gave us an interesting tour around the production place to finish with a wine and Porto test (three of each). We even bought a LBV and a Rosè Porto!

About Winery and Wines

At Quinta do Tedo, bringing together traditions from Burgundy and California, proprietors Vincent Bouchard and Kay Steffey Bouchard have revitalized a venerable winery and created new distinctive Portos and Douro wines.

Our traditional closely-spaced planting (3.3 x 5 feet, or 1.10 x 1.6 meters) on steep terraces of rocky schist soil includes eighteen varietals of red grape, dominated by Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Cão, Touriga Nacional and Touriga Francesa. The vineyards are divided into five parcels, each separately vinified.

The average age of our grapevines is thirty years, and their yield of 1.5 tons per acre (27 - 30 hectolitres per hectare) creates very concentrated flavors in the wine.

Determined to provide an environmentally sound future for our children and for our customers, we are among the first Porto producers to practice what is called culture raisonable (responsible and sustainable agricultural practices), and in July 2010 our winery will become certified organic This means that we control the type of products and the amounts that we can apply to the vineyards. The soil, the plants and the grapes are periodically tested to ensure we are maintaining this high standard.

This summer Quinta do Tedo has the pleasure to offer guests and visitors an option to have lunch and small snacks, and dinner for our B
