Quinta dos Varais

About the Winery

The winery of this centuries-old property has been producing wine since 1142, run by Cistercian monks.
Today, with some adaptations, it continues to produce high-quality wines in its granite stone lagares, thus maintaining a family tradition.

The DOC red wines are very intense and maintain the identity of Douro wines.

About the Wines

Douro DOC white wines are wines with low acidity, some fruit (pineapple), vinified using the "open vat" method, alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks with temperature control. Grape varieties used: Viosinho, Malvasia Fina, Códega and a little Moscatel Galego.

Douro DOC red wines are wines with personality, vinified in stone lagares and by hand, with the Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Roriz grape varieties.
