My friend and I just visited the Still River Winery. The winery was a little hard to find as it is in a house but to our surprise it was the best wine/beer we had tasted that day on our mini wine tour! The owner was beyond nice and showed us his entire wine/beer making process and gave free samples. The apple ice wine was AMAZING! and he also makes this Applewood beer that initially tastes smokey but has an amazing aftertaste. My friend and I both bought the beer. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone as not only the wine/beer delicious, but also the owner was genuine, friendly and knowledgeable making the overall experience one of the best!

Ice Cider is the best thing on...

Ice Cider is the best thing on earth. I first tried Ice Cider in Quebec 3 years ago and was disappointed when I learned that they could not ship it down here to the states and there was nothing like it around here. Last year I discovered Still River Winery's Ice Cider and have been hooked ever since. It is definitely on par with the Ice Cider that I had in Canada and it's even better because it is local. I recently had the privilege of trying the sparkling Ice Cider and it is just as good. I highly recommend giving this a shot. They usually have free tastings at the Salem, MA farmers market that also runs during the winter.

About Winery and Wines

The Story of Still River Winery begins on a frigid day in January 2007, when Wade and Margot Holtzman of Harvard, MA set out on a trip north to visit the infamous Ice Hotel, located 20 miles northeast of Quebec City, Canada. While the idea of sleeping in a fancy igloo didn’t excite Margot, it turned out to be a wonderful experience. Both were enchanted by the magic of staying in a snow and ice structure. Today, Still River Winery’s apple ice wine is sold at fine wine shops, served at respected hotels and restaurants, and shipped nationally. Though larger today than its simple beginnings, Still River Winery’s apple ice wine continues to be hand-crafted and fermented in 5-gallon glass carboys by winemaker Wade Holtzman. The family remains in love with what they do and welcomes visitors for tours and tastings on week-ends and by appointment throughout the year. Simply call 978-415-WINE [9463].
