Such a cool winery with incredibly dedicated...

Such a cool winery with incredibly dedicated winemakers. Karen brings a passion to Colorado wine making that I can only hope is as infectious on her peers as it is on me. I enjoy attending the Colorado Mountain Winefest ever year or two and there is no question in my mind that the very best wines in Colorado over the past 5 years (that I've been keeping track) at least are consistently coming from Stone Cottage Cellars. This couple has no sense of urgency in their process and apparently no mind for cutting costs because the time and effort and quality of wine making materials that go into their wines cannot be an aid to their bottom line. But the product in their Gerwurtztraminer, Syrah, and now the 2011 Merlot that I am drinking is undeniable. I am often of the mind that Colorado wines are still at least $5 dollars more expensive than their quality demands but with Stone Cottage Cellars I really do feel that I am getting the value of every penny spent! Please try the three varietals that I mentioned here. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Stone Cottage Cellars is a family business and an ongoing labor of love. Our adventure started in 1994 with a goal of leaving the corporate world and beginning a new and sustainable chapter in our lives where we could raise our family in a rural community, connected to the land. Our mission led us to the North Fork Valley, and our passion for wines led to the opportunity to purchase one of the highest elevation vineyards anywhere in the world. Being “connected” is something we bargained for. Little did we know what that would actually involve – how hands-on our new life would be! We hand built Stone Cottage Cellars from the ground up, “stone by stone”. Wine cellar. Tasting room. The Stone Cottage. And now, even our family home. Our vision will never be complete, but our lives are more fulfilled.
