This winery is not enormous, but it is impressive and the wines are tremendous. The Rosso is a fabulous, well priced, 'ready to drink' 100% Sangiovese marvel and the Brunellos just get better. They are all outstanding examples of the great wines from that region!

About Winery and Wines

Tenuta Buon Tempo is an estate located in the far south of the territory of Montalcino, near Castelnuovo dell’Abate, in an area with a particular vocation for winegrowing. The company name aims to highlight the pleasant peace and quiet that characterise this splendid valley, Buon Tempo being the Italian for “good time”. 65,000 bottles of Rosso di Montalcino and Brunello di Montalcino are made every year, along with a very small and highly selected production of Brunello Riserva in exceptionally good years. Our commitment is to make high quality wines that fully reflect the unique terroir offered by this area of Montalcino.

Tenuta Buon Tempo stretches for 26 hectares, 12 of which cultivated as vineyards. About 5 hectares of these are devoted exclusively to Brunello di Montalcino. The vineyards are all situated around the villa and the modern cellar, at an average altitude of 350 m above sea level, with south-easterly exposure. The main composition of the soils is Galestro marl and sandstone, with a rich presence of heavy stone and considerable variability even within a very short distance. The only grape variety grown is Sangiovese Grosso, in that it is the finest expression of the typical characteristics of Montalcino and the only variety that can be contained in its most prestigious wines, Rosso and Brunello, which represent the estate’s entire production.
