Sobre la bodega y los vinos

OUR WINERY AND WINES… TENUTA SECOLO IX, owned by family Allegrino, extends over 22 hectares of vineyards owned between Mount Morrone, Majella and, not far, the Adriatic Sea in the province of Pescara, in the Municipality of Castiglione in Casauria. Land of old peasant traditions that guarded a precious vine, unique in the world: the MOSCATELLO DI CASTIGLIONE A CASAURIA. The first written traces of this vine date back to the year '800, hence the name of the Winery, and speak of a vine, cultivated and worked by the Monks of the Abbey of San Clemente, who sent the wine produced by this grape in Rome, for the Pope's canteen. This vine was so rooted in the territory that all families had 2.3 rows of this grape from which they had the Moscatello di Castiglione, a passito wine usually offered to guests. With the depopulation of the countryside and the closure of the Abbey the vine was destined to disappear, only the traditional feast of San Biagio, in Castiglione in Casauria, where the Saint was celebrated with the Donuts and the Moscatello. About 20 years ago, Antonio Angelucci, an industrialist from Castiglione, left the company to his children, remembering this wine that had characterized his childhood and youth, wanted to try to bring back into production the Moscatello vine; with the help of the University of Chieti and the fundamental support of the agronomist Romano D’Amario, managed to bring back to production the vine called: MOSCATELLO DI CASTIGLIONE A CASAURIA, BIOTIPO CASAURIENSE, CLONE D’AMARIO and only we have it! So the history of this ancient grape has begun… With the precious work of the Enologist Donato di Tommaso, a range of modern and recognizable wines has been created, where the Abruzzese wine tradition and the modernity in the processing of grapes are fulfilled to make our wines recognized and appreciated by consumers all over the world. SOME INFO ABOUT THE WINERY: the vineyards extend over 22 hectares, all around the cellar.

OUR WINES: A great work has be done by the oenologist Donato Di Tommaso: our FONTE GROTTA, unique wine: a dry white obtained from our Moscatello grape! A great temptation that starts from the nose with its scented hints of tropical fruits and yellow pulp fruits, then arrives in the mouth with its freshness! This year the prestigious guide of Veronelli Wines has awarded us with the SOLE of Veronelli, a prize reserved for the 10 best Italian wines! Perfect in combination with cooked and raw fish dishes, Asian cuisine preparations and vegetarian cuisine We could not miss our offer Abruzzese wine par excellence: the MONTEPULCIANO D’ABRUZZO DOC that we present in two types: FIORAVANTE, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC, wine of great importance, dark red color tending to garnet, aromas of wild fruit, undergrowth and a hint of jam and spices. Important red meat, roasts, game and aged cheeses are its perfect combination making it in the mouth full, warm and persistent. Despite its 14% gradation, it has an elegant drink, not aggressive, soft; a perfect companion on important occasions. It is produced from grapes grown in our vineyards, choosing the particles of vineyards most suited to the production of this great wine: grapes harvested by hand, in cassette and immediately brought to the cellar to begin processing; two years of wood, barrique and tonneau, then in bottle to rest until its placement on the market Our MONTEPULCIANO D’ABRUZZO DOC, elegant red fresher than Fioravante
