About Winery and Wines

‘Terres de Lavaux’ is a cooperative founded in 1906 by the wine producers in the Lutry area. Lutry is a small town situated on the outskirts of Lausanne, in the heart of the Lavaux wine making region, world renowned for its vines grown on terraces overlooking Lake Geneva. Its wine making capacity reaches roughly 150,000 bottles per year. Two thirds of the yield is Chasselas wine, characterised by it’s refined flavour, a subtle reminder of the rich earth found in the Lavaux region. Lavaux AOC (appellation d’origine contrôlée) wine grade label covers the former Lutry and Villette wine labels. Wines which originate from other grape varieties, like the Riesling-Sylvaner (Muller-Thurgau), Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, and Viognier, constitute speciality wines and complete the range of white wines available. They are either processed alone or by blending, using a variety of grapes. The most cultivated red grapes produce Gamay and Pinot Noir wines, processed either alone or blended, for example with the new Gamaret and Garanoir grape variety. These grapes are processed together and matured in oak barrels to produce a superb wine, both strong and rich in tannin.
