About Winery and Wines

The Linticlar Estate is first mentioned in records dating from 1225. But Stone Age and Bronze Age finds in the area of the castle ruins above the winery show that it has been a site of human settlement since prehistorical times. The Turmhof was registered as a winery in the commercial register in 1848. That makes it one of the oldest wine estates in South Tyrol. Before the end of the 2nd World War, Herbert Tiefenbrunner (1928-2015) started work as a wine-maker when he was only 15 years of age. His later wife Hilde opened the Jausenstation snack bar in 1968. In May 2012 we took over the winery with a commitment to continue in the centuries-old tradition of our wine-making culture.

The mild climate and slightly clayey soils with a high limestone content provide the right geoclimatic foundations. The microclimate, exposition and slope of the vineyards on the west side of the South Tyrolean Unterland take it from there. Harmony between man and nature, and a perfect match between grape variety and site are all part of our daily work in a spirit of responsibility in the vineyard. For us, progress is about supporting the processes of nature with the know-how of generations past and present, careful mangement and painstaking manual work. The top address among our vineyards is situated on the Fennberg. Literally: At about 1,000 meters above sea-level, the 3-hectare site is considered the highest Müller-Thurgau vineyard in Europe. It is home to our multiple award-winning FELDMARSCHALL VON FENNER, an impressive example of what is possible even on exposed sites with the living art of the caring vintner.
