Enjoyable small winery tour

We enjoyed our tour! The vineyards and view are beautiful! Tasted 4 wines that the family makes there at the house. Very good. Had a small delay finding the place as the winery sign is small. Other than that, very nice!

Situated on the renowned shores of Lake Maggiore in Lombardy in the the town of Angera, Cascina Piano is now a recognized point of reference for the quality of its production of "Ronchi Varesini" IGT wines.

Founded in 2003, Cascina Piano has set itself as the forerunner of the "Ronchi Varesini IGT" certification, focusing its mission on quality, experimentation and a deep connection with the land of the "Ronchi Varesini" and of the "Lago Maggiore". The quality ambitiously pursued by the winery is the synthesis of territory, research, innovation, and development. The standards are regulated by "Ronchi Varesini IGT" with a continuous tension toward improvement to guarantee a constantly high level of product.

Cascina Piano chooses and pursues the enhancement of indigenous grape varieties, focusing expecially on the Nebbiolo grapes and varieties partly abandoned. Cascina Piano pursues the selection of new varieties to be included in IGT. In the vineyard and in the winery, Cascina Piano draws on the advice of "Ampelidea" which guides the use of new techniques of cultivation and winemaking.

The label designs are inspired by the frescoes of the territories, and the first names of the wines refer to the history and local place names and sayings and rhymes dialect reported on the bottles telling of historical and artistic premises.

The "great reds" Ronchi Varesini IGT are driven by Primenebbie - 100% Nebbiolo grapes - and Angliano - 70% Nebbiolo and 30% Croatina grapes.

Primenebbie is distinguished by a particular softness, elegance and inclination to mature and become noble. It finds his balance with ease and naturalness in the local land of the "Ronchi Varesini" overlooking the Lake Maggiore. Primenebbie is refined, with a good body, great abundance of scents and a particular unique territorial style.

Angliano is a nebbiolo with greater color, body and spiciness. It is structured and at the same time elegant and particular round. It is very suitable for typical local recipes based on red meat and game and aged cheese also.

Nebbiolo is the protagonist in the red wines of the winery.

The white "Ronchi Varesini IGT" are inspired by the combination of the fish dishes of Verbano. San Quirico, at the helm of the winery's range, is made up of chardonnay with a touch of typical and local experimentation. This wine is the perfect accompaniment to lake fish, like the famous perch, but also white meats and cheeses.
