Über das Weingut und die Weine

A sustainable, natural vineyard and organic farm in Bordeaux, France.

At Château Shuette, we know that Bordeaux needs to move forward & focus on sustainability to create exceptional modern wines. We take pride in our independent, family-owned vineyard, where our grapes are organically cultivated and harvested by hand. Our commitment to sustainability and respect for the environment ensures that our wines reflect the unique terroir of our region.

All 12 ha of our farm, including the 4.25 ha vineyard, have been certified organic for more than 25 years.

We build the ecology of the land through careful land management with cover crops, 250 fruit trees through the vineyard and 200 bird boxes. We produce, on average, 18,000 bottles of natural wine per year through a range of Orange, Claret and Red wines aged in either stainless steel tanks or neutral and new French oak barrels.

The Vineyard:

The 4.5 hectare vineyard is situated next to the Dordogne River in one block, rooted in deep clay and mineral schist deposits from the river.

We produce, on average, 16,000 bottles of wine per year.

We have an additional 6 hectares of organic pasture that we will diversify into a regenerative farm over the coming years.

We grow:

● Cabernet Sauvignon

● Cabernet Franc

● Cabernet Noir

● Petit Verdot

● Merlot

● Sémillon

● Sauvignon Blanc

● Malbec - Newly planted. Non-productive.

We trim the vines with two growing vines with 4 shoots per side. Reducing the overall fruit production to help boost quality. All vine work is done by hand.

Cultivation:

We aim to leave the land in better condition at the end of the year than when we started, utilising a mixture of permaculture and regenerative agriculture land management styles.

● 250+ Inter-vineyard silvopasture fruit trees,

● 280+ bird boxes and other wildlife homes throughout the property.

● Free-range poultry for insect management.

● Biodynamic herbal teas replace many chemical sprays.

● Successional, full-cycle, cover crop management.

Our wine:

We do not create wines in tiers. Each wine is grown, harvested, made and matured with the best possible technique and materials to produce a range of wines that get the most out of every style and develop their individual characteristics.
