Degustazione a Lamole di Lamole

2/1/24
Personale preparato, gentile e disponibile. Posto incantevole, i vini che ci hanno proposto e il tagliere con salumi e formaggi locali erano deliziosi.

Über das Weingut und die Weine

After a drive of about ten kilometers, climbing from the valley of the Greve River through a forest of beech, oak and coniferous trees, you reach the hamlet of Lamole, where you can admire the picturesque piazza, dominated by the Romanesque church of San Donato, as well as the surrounding scenery. A short distance away – in the midst of vines, olive trees and dry-stone walls – lies the Lamole di Lamole winery: a place where, over the course of time, ancient and modern have blended together so as to improve the various phases of production. Entering this winery is a unique experience: it is like travelling through the history of Chianti Classico and revealing its secrets. Shrouded in the darkness and silence of the underground cellars lie the large casks for the maturation of the highquality, versatile Sangiovese and the barriques for the evolution of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Here the “historical memory” of Lamole is preserved: the racks of dusty bottles, memorials of ancient vintages, bear witness to the aging ability of the wines from this outstanding little village. Sat in front of the large fireplace in the Salotto di Lamole, immersed in a symphony of fragrances and colors, you can savor all the good things this area has to offer.

Lamole, a high-lying hamlet of the municipality of Greve in Chianti, is in the fairly northern section of Chianti Classico; its highest vineyards are more than 650 meters above sea level, at the upper limit for Sangiovese in Tuscany. The soils, which offer very good drainage, are made up of ocher-colored sandstones, known as “macigno toscano” (“Tuscan boulder”) to underline their texture and weight; mingled with them are inserts of alberese and galestro, and the mixture of soils that results is one of the secrets of the completeness of the local reds, which are perfumed and extremely elegant, vigorous and persistent. Giving tangible proof of man’s relationship with his environment, the terraces of Lamole tell a story of fatigue, patience and courage.
