PODERE LA VILLA
Über das Weingut und die Weine
Podere La Villa is a small farm located in one of the most enchanting valleys of the Chianti Classico region; just 20 minutes from Florence and 40 from Siena, it consists of 27 acres of land, 7 of which are dedicated to vineyards while the others are occupied by olive trees, woods, a small pond and a natural spring. It all began in 2004, the year in which Giacomo Tachis (the father of the Supertuscans decided to renovate one of the oldest vineyards on the estate, convinced that Sangiovese and Merlot would find an ideal home, here on this land. Already from the first maturation of 2007, when it was not yet thought to make wine, but to sell the grapes for a small profit, it was in fact realized, that these grapes could indeed produce excellent wine if cultivated with care, and above all, with the commitment and passion needed. In 2007, however, with the birth of Riccardo, Giacomo’s first grandson, it was decided to celebrate the event with the vinification of the first harvest. The wine obtained was called, not by chance, “Pargolo”,( little child or offspring) and to this day, continues to be produced as a Chianti ClassicoDocg. This wine was later joined by a Supertuscan “Giacomo”, a Merlot aged in barrique and dedicated to the great father. Vintage 2022 saw also the first and small production of the first rosato wine, called “Rintocco” from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. In May 2025 the estate has also released the first “Riserva” of Chianti Classico 2022 called “Expecta” Nowadays the company has converted to organic and is currently sustainable. Great care is taken in the vineyards from the winter pruning, to the summer thinning, the objective being to bring to the ripening, no more than 4 to 5 bunches of grapes per plant. The Tachis family in the person of Ilaria (daughter of Giacomo) and Raffaele, her husband, with a small and efficient team, aim at producing a maximumof 25/30 000 quality bottles per year. Starting from September 2022, thecompany has a new wine cellar. Located a short distance from the vineyards, It is the result of the careful restoration of an ancient wine cellar, overlooking a Renaissance parish known in the area as the Church of Argiano. Visitors will have access to a tasting area and direct sales. To adorn the cellar, there is a view of a “bioactive” garden, consisting of fruits, vegetables and aromatic herbs, made with great care and suggestive of a garden that could have been created by the ancient medieval monks. Determined to preserve a territory of indisputable value, the heirs of the Tachis family, in collaboration with winemaker Alessandro Cellai, find the necessary enthusiasm and passion in the love that Giacomo Tachis, the inexhaustible source, has always had for Tuscany and its land.
