Fantastic relaxed winery hospitality

Big thanks to the folks at Quinta da Portela who were both friendly and knowledgeable. We were walked through the onsite museum and learned about the multi-generation history of this winery; interesting to see artifacts of the wine business and how equipment has changed across the decades. The great pleasure of our visit was a wonderfully relaxed and leisurely seated tour of their sparkling, still and fortified wines as well as their olive oil. These were deftly accompanied by delicious local food products both savoury and sweet on their hilltop outdoor patio. Highly recommended!

We were at a wine tasting experience in August, and it was amazing. The lady who guided us was very friendly, funny, and her knowledge about the winery and Port wine was outstanding. The winery itself is beautiful. We had the opportunity to try six different types of wine (with snacks). I strongly recommend this place and the tour. We even bought a bottle to remember this experience.

Über das Weingut und die Weine

Die Quinta da Portela de Baixo hat eine über 200-jährige Geschichte und liegt in der Douro-Region in der monumentalen Stadt Lamego. Es ist ein Familienbetrieb mit 15 Hektar Weinbergen, traditionellen Granitgebäuden, offenen Aussichten und schönen Gärten.

Der Besuch und die Weinprobe sind ein entspanntes Erlebnis, mit einer traditionellen Douro-Atmosphäre und freundlichem Personal.

Die angebotenen Weine stammen von der Quinta da Portela und der Quinta da Soveral.

Von der Quinta da Portela de Baixo, die auf einer Höhe von über 500 Metern liegt und über Granitböden verfügt, kommen der schäumende Pinot Noir und Weißweine aus den Rebsorten Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Arinto, Viosinho und Rabigato.

Von der Quinta da Soveral, die auf einer Höhe von 300 Metern beginnt und sich bis zum Fluss hinunter erstreckt, kommen der Reserva-Rotwein aus den Rebsorten Touriga Nacional und Sousão (Goldmedaille CMB 2024) und die Portweine, wobei der Vintage Port besonders hervorzuheben ist.
