ROLFO Società Agricola
Über das Weingut
Vini Rolfo is a family winery in the Langhe, based in Ricca, in the municipality of Diano d'Alba. Its story began in 1959 at Cascina Overso, among the hills of Diano d'Alba. In the post-war years the family farm, started by Giuseppe Rolfo, grew wheat, hazelnuts and a few vines. Over time wine became the heart of the business. Pietro Rolfo developed sales and built a network of customers, mainly in Northern Italy, and his children Mauro, a graduate of the Alba school of oenology, and Monica gave the company a new direction.
Since 2024 the fourth generation, Davide, Simone and Paolo, has led the winery together with Mauro. They grew up among the vines and combine the experience of the family with new ideas, with the aim of bringing out the best in every vineyard.
The vineyards lie on the hills of Diano d'Alba, Alba and La Morra, a landscape where each slope, exposure and vintage shapes the character of the wines. Work in the vineyard goes on all year, from pruning to harvest, and in the cellar the grapes are handled with care so that the land and the vintage show in the glass.
For a traveller, a visit to Vini Rolfo means meeting a family that has worked these hills for generations. Guests can see the cellar and the vineyards, hear about the family history and its winemaking choices, and taste wines that show the variety of the Langhe.
Über die Weine
The wines of Vini Rolfo reflect the traditions and character of the Langhe. Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba DOCG is the traditional red of the home territory, made from Dolcetto grown on the best-exposed slopes, the sorì, of one of the highest hills in the Langhe. Aged in stainless steel, it has a deep ruby colour with violet reflections. Barbera d'Alba DOC, aged in wood and steel, is generous and balanced, with good structure and freshness.
Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC comes from the hills of Alba and Diano d'Alba, on the right bank of the Tanaro River, between the Barolo and Barbaresco zones. The Superiore version, BUCABARI', is aged in steel and then for 12 months in wood. It shows red fruit, spice and light floral notes, with fine tannins and a long finish. The winery also makes Barolo DOCG from Nebbiolo grown in the La Morra vineyards of Rocche dell'Annunziata and Boiolo.
Langhe Arneis DOC is a fresh white with floral and fruity aromas and a savoury character, while Moscato d'Asti DOCG is aromatic and gently sweet, ideal with desserts. Langhe Rosato DOC is a cherry pink wine from Nebbiolo. The range is completed by MonSer Bianco and MonSer Rosso, two blends aged in steel.
