Tenuta Garetto stands on the hills of Agliano Terme, within the newly created Nizza DOCG appellation, recognized as the highest expression of Barbera d'Asti grapes. Agliano, in fact, has always been considered "The town of Barbera" for its particular vocation, and here the company can boast vineyards dating back to the 1930s and 1950s. The winery was born from the desire of the Gagliardo family, famous producers of Barolo in La Morra, to expand their production in the Monferrato Astigiano area, given the important viticultural vocation of their land.

The property is made up of a single 10-hectare plot on the hill behind the winery, which helps to optimize the harvest and thus maximize the quality of the wines produced. The winery works mainly with Barbera grapes, which account for about 80% of production. The wines produced are Nizza DOCG, Barbera d'Asti DOCG, Barbera d'Asti Superiore DOCG and Grignolino d'Asti DOC, each of which is characterised by elegance and strong character as is the Gagliardo style.
