Wines are extremely light in flavour but not bad. Food was average. Charcuterie plate was two slices of tasteless terrine. Salmon was mushy. Probably the area's best option for lunch though. Nice people working there.

Very good location for the views with a large selection of wines at differing price points. Some quite good and others we could leave. The one down side was the meals as they are quite small and a bit much for what they were. The view is something.

Nice range of wines on the tasting list, although some of the more exotic ones weren't included. But the venue is amazing, with a nice garden, great panoramic views and knowledgable staff.

Sobre la bodega y los vinos

Kel Boynton established his vineyard in 1988 with a belief in that the Alpine Valleys provided the ideal terroir and climate to experiment and grow a variety of different grapes. When he came across the perfect site, it was an old horse paddock overgrown with blackberries, but Kel immediately saw the potential, not just for growing grapes, but for its appeal as a tourism destination, a place where people could relax in an unpretentious atmosphere and discover the elegance of hand crafted cool climate wines. It is a site blessed with incredible natural beauty - it overlooks the alpine peaks of Mt Buffalo, is surrounded by native forests, rolling hills and located on the Murray To Mountains Rail Trail. Kel proceeded with determination and a list of 30 varietals that he wanted to grow and opened up the winery's cellar door in 1989. It was the first winery in the Alpine Valleys. Feathertop is synonymous with its passion for developing alternate varietals. Savagnin, Tempranillo and Vermentino to name a few, have all found their spiritual home in the Alpine Valleys. But you can also expect award winning traditional varieties like Shiraz, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and Prosecco and a selection of fortified wines. No matter what time of year you visit, our friendly and professional team invite you to embark on a journey of varietal discovery; you just might be surprised at what you like! At Feathertop we offer so much more than wine tastings. We strive to make your visit memorable for the whole family and we offer plenty of experiences to be enjoyed on our estate. We have a restaurant, deli/café, accommodation, playground, cycle friendly facilities, a Summit Cru Wine Club that allows you to enjoy 16 varieties of wine at our best prices; and we also cater for weddings and functions.
