Sobre la bodega y los vinos

The first cellars of Montevecchio were dug into the rock at the end of the 16th century, during the construction of the Palazzo Senatorio. Since then they have kept our wines, which today as then try to best interpret our terroir and the tradition of the Colli Bolognesi. The entire production process, from the field to the bottle, is followed and cared for with passion and attention by Gualtiero and his family.

Today we have modern equipment, designed precisely to enhance the aromas and freshness of our grapes. A soft press guarantees maximum respect for the white grapes during the squeezing phase, while the variable speed destemmer-crusher allows the red grapes to be separated from the stalks without breaking the skins. The stainless steel barrels, fermenters and autoclaves guarantee maximum hygiene and temperature control during all processing stages, thus preserving the original aromas and flavours. For the maturation of red wines we use concrete tanks. In the oldest part of the cellar are the barriques and tonneaux of French oak, where the finest red wines are aged.

The farm covers 13 hectares of vineyards located in 210 meters above sea level, on the first slopes of the Emilian Apennines, on sedimentary soil clayey-sandy under the municipality of Monte San Peter (BO). It falls within the Pignoletto dei Colli DOCG area Bolognesi and DOC Rosso Bologna. The main cultivated varieties are: Grechetto Gentile, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. We have always been respectful of the environment and the our land and use good agricultural practices compliant with the organic method referred to in 2016 we got the certification.
