Sobre la bodega y los vinos

The history of our family began in the early 1950s with the production of quality must grapes intended for the most important wineries in Sicily. Our lands are located at the confluence of the two branches of the Belìce, the right and the left. From above, the view offers the perfect shape of a “Y”, which in various cultures represents femininity, fertility. In the mid-1990s, our family made an important change of direction, once again driven by the pursuit of quality. And so, our idea of the possibility of closing the production chain, using this for the successive steps of winemaking, bottling and marketing, became a reality. Forty years after the first plantings, the Vini Tonnino brand was born. Today we offer a wide selection, ranging from the most traditionally Sicilian varieties. A grateful attention is also paid to varieties born outside our sicilian terroirs, which have absorbed its warmth and bring a message that can be understood by a wider audience. We are deeply convinced that growing a vine has several implications that have as their primary foundation the conservation of Nature.

This philosophy translates over time into a series of actions that mantain respect towards life cycles and sustainability. We exclusively adopt the organic approach for our crops, trying to minimize any possible impact on the environment. We use energy from renewable energy sources to activate all the processes that take place in our winery and we source the materials we need exclusively in our region.

A further step was implemented in 2021, leading to the purchase of the CEUSO winery, founded in the 1990s. CEUSO was mostly known for its production of territorial reds, but most notably for its flagship label, a Sicilian blend characterized by great longevity and excellent structure. The brand, which we now own, will be used to continue the production of the wines that have made its history, ensuring success in numerous international competitions.  Ceuso winery is located inside a baglio in the heart of the Alcamo D.O.C. area and is an interesting example of Sicilian rural architecture dating back to the second half of the 19th century. Today the ancient winemaking traditions are supported by the inclusion of modern cooling systems that guarantee high product quality. In these premises, which best combine tradition and modern technology, our family continues the production of Ceuso wine, which will return to the market in 2023.

We strongly believe in promoting our territory by offering numerous wine tourism experiences, for example, by organizing guided tours that combine the world of wine with local history and culture. The focal points of these tours are located at the winery’s two headquarters. One is precisely Baglio Ceuso, situated in the countryside just outside the town of Alcamo.

The other is an antique building in the historic center of Alcamo, restored with highly modern solutions and equipment but respecting the original style and architectural setting of the building. In both facilities guests will be able to complete in the best way the immersion in a territory that finds in our wines its perfect representation.

The vines grow on alluvial soils donated to agriculture by the Belice River at the point where its branches flow into each other, giving shape to a "Y". The place is mystical and religious and contains, in the symbolism of the merging rivers, the idea of fertilization and life.

We plant both native and international vines.

It was noted that these international varieties were perfectly suited to the pedoclimatic conditions of our territory and offered us wines with organoleptic characteristics very different from those they normally possessed in their areas of origin but with a Sicilian imprint that determined their typicality and great character. , so as to be appreciated even within national borders.

We have always cultivated our lands with passion and with deep respect for the territory, taking into account that the interaction of countless variables determines the final shape of a wine.

Cultivating a vine means safeguarding nature not only in respect of its cyclical times but also in terms of sustainability. In addition to cultivating our land exclusively in an organic regime, we constantly strive to minimize the environmental impact, both with the use of energy obtained from renewable sources to activate all the processes in the cellar, and in the finding of useful materials which is carried out exclusively within our region.
