Sobre la bodega y los vinos

The history of Vini Barani began when in the early 1950s Marino and Gina Barani bought a small plot of land near the Vigoleno castle. Initially, they decided to build on part of that land a small detached house (which would be expanded over time to its current state).

On the remaining land adjacent to the house, Marino Barani began the activity of a nurseryman (recovering scions from prized native vines of the area and then reselling the rooted cuttings to local winegrowers), aware of the optimal and special qualities of the soil (limestone) and the mainly southern exposure to the sun. Given the success of his wine, he switched from nurseryman to winemaker, thus selling wine directly on the farm until the early 2000s.

Currently, Vini Barani is run by Marino's grandson, Stefano Barani, and part of those historic vineyards have been preserved and are still used and visible.

The grapes produced from the four hectares of vineyards, of which the farm is composed, are selected and harvested by hand, in small boxes, to ensure the highest quality. There are DOC varieties of grapes such as Ortrugo, Barbera, Croatina (known as Bonarda), Sauvignon Blanc, and the ancient Santa Maria.

Starting in 2022, the Barani winery began its conversion to organic production methods.
