Here is what's in store for you

The Etna North wine route is one of the most exciting path in Sicily! This is a self drive tour thought to include visits and tastings in the most renowned wineries on the slopes of Etna, the most active volcano in Europe, from which you can enjoy wonderful views of the sea.

Day 1 - Arrival on the Etna area

Today you arrive on your own on the Etna wine destination and you check in at Hotel Feudo Vagliasindi or similar in Randazzo. The first winery you have included today is Tenuta Tascante at 4 pm. Part of the Tasca Cont' d'Almerita, this is the perfect location to start your wine experience in the heart of Etna!

The history of Tasca d’Almerita and that of the “Muntagna” (mountain) came together in 2007, when the Tascante project was born: Tasca and Etna. First and foremost it represents the exact synthesis of their idea of a vineyard on the highest volcano in Europe, Mount Etna. A force of nature in its primordial state.

Getting back to the hotel (5 minutes drive) you can enjoy a second wine tasting experience at the winery of the Estate. For centuries the Etna earths offered precious fruits that turn into oils and top quality wines. The lands of Feudo Vagliasindi manor are mostly cultived in organic olive trees, from which come a DOP oil with high organoleptic qualities. The remainder land is devoted to the vine Nerello Mascalese, from which are produced the superb Etna wine DOC. After the visit and the tasting you can relax, have dinner on own and overnight.

Day 2 - Planeta Sciaranuova and Cottanera

Today, after breakfast, you relax and then drive towards Planeta Sciaranuva (15 minutes drive). You arrive here at 11 am and you'll enjoy a special wine tour, tasting and light lunch experience. After enjoying this incredible day at Planeta you can go back to the hotel to relax before the second winery or go straight to Cantina Cottanera where your visit is planned at 4 pm. We at Winedering always balance your wine day tours and this is exactly what you'll experience today, going from a famous and world-wide known estate to a small and boutique little winery named Cantina Cottanera where you will taste new labels and meet local members of the family. With 60 years of experience, they naturally tend to the volcanic land, hard and generous at the same time, with all their passion and respect. These wines are pure expression of a wild environment and inherit their explosive minerality from the volcano.

Back to the hotel, dinner on own and overnight.

Day 2 - Etna and Catania

Today, after breakfast and check out, you move towards Palmento Costanzo where you'll enjoy the last wine tasting of this tour at 11.30. Their Etna vineyards are located on the north side of Etna, between 650 and 780 meters above sea level. Here they farm about ten hectares of vineyards organically. The vines are arranged on a series of centuries-old terraces made of dry lava stones found in the immediate environment.

After the tasting you have time to enjoy either the ascent by cable car up to Etna’s Central Crater or the visit to the historical center of Catania to see its colorful «Pìscaria» and experience an authentic atmosphere of the characteristic fish market.
