Full-day Vayots Dzor Wine Route Tour: Experience High Altitude Vineyards
Here is what's in store for you
Enjoy a full-day private wine tour along the Vayots Dzor Wine Route! Start your trip to Ararat Valley, the southern wine route of Armenia, by visiting two of the most popular wineries in the territory and one of the most popular sites in Armenian history. You’ll visit high-altitude vineyards, see indigenous grape varieties, and taste a variety of Armenian wines.
After picking you up at your hotel or accommodation, our first stop of the tour will be the Monastery of Khor Virap, which is located 200 meters away from the Turkish border and is considered to be a pilgrimage center for all Armenians. From here you'll be able to admire the best view of Biblical Mount Ararat.
Later, we will visit the village of Areni, famous for its rich wine history and vineyards. Here you'll have the opportunity to visit the Areni Cave or Bird’s Cave, where archaeologists found the world’s oldest wine cellar (6200 years old).
Next, we'll visit Noa Vineyards, one of the high-altitude vineyards in the world, and enjoy a wine tasting with a view of the mountains. You'll taste 4 types of wine; white, red, rose, and sweet dessert wine.
The tour then continues to Noravank Monastery, surrounded by red rocks.
Finally, we will stop at the enchanting Momik winery, a small wine cube located in the heart of hectares of vineyards. Hosted by the owner and the winemaker himself, you’ll learn the winery's history and enjoy a tasting of 5 of their nicest wines, including white, red, and rose along with 2 vintages. The wine tasting will be served alongside a delicious lunch consisting of starters (such as bruschetta, cheese platter, meat platter), salads, 2 warm main dishes, and fruit.
After a relaxing wine tasting lunch surrounded by vineyards, it will be time to drive back to Yerevan.
