Historic Winery Tour in Fermoselle with Wine & Olive Oil Tasting at Bodega Bruneo
Here is what's in store for you
Explore the fascinating world of wine and history with this immersive visit to a historic winery in Fermoselle, Bodega Bruneo, located in the heart of the Arribes del Duero Natural Park, Zamora. This guided tour takes place in a 500-year-old underground cellar carved into solid granite, preserving the ancient charm and echoing the legacy of Sephardic communities that once lived in the region.
The tour begins with a warm welcome and a historical introduction to the winery and its connection to Jewish tradition. As you walk through Roman-style arches, old aljibes, and ceremonial niches, you’ll learn about the history of winemaking in Fermoselle and how the traditions are preserved in the present day.
One of the highlights includes seeing seven steps descending into an ancient water cistern, likely used as a mikveh (ritual bath), and spotting a carved, inverted menorah believed to be a symbol of crypto-Jewish heritage.
At the end of the visit, you'll enjoy a guided tasting of three wines:
A fresh and fruity Malvasía white
A balanced Juan García red
A bold and complex Bruñal red
The tasting is accompanied by a premium extra virgin olive oil tasting and local tapas products, offering a complete sensory experience.
A visit that blends archaeology, history, and enology in one of Spain’s most charming villages.
