Cantina Filippo Gallino "A passion that has been handed down for several generations" A few kilometers from Canale, in the green hills of Roero, one of the most important regions in the Piedmontese wine scene, Filippo and Maria, with their children Gianni and Laura, spend their days in the middle of the rows to look after and carefully select the grapes they will give origin of the wines from their cellar. The company has long been a significant presence for the quality of its products in the Roero wine scene as this passion has been handed down for several generations. It is difficult to say when the Gallino family started producing wine because the origins are lost in time, but certainly Gallino Stefano, born in 1886, already produced Barbera and Nebbiolo. In 1972 he was among the first companies to relaunch Roero Arneis for some time forgotten and today known in the main international markets as one of the best white wines of Italian origin. Thanks to the precious help of his friend Matteo Correggia, Filippo in 1994 began the production of superior wines, coming from careful thinning of the grapes and skilful aging in small oak barrels. A couple of harvests are enough to see important awards arrive from the most renowned magazines in the sector and it will be this success that will give significant impetus to the growth of the company. Today, in the owned vineyards, which extend for about 12 hectares, the treatments are rigorously implemented in respect of nature and pruning aims to favor quality over quantity. The harvest, carried out by hand, lasts for 3/4 weeks and involves the whole family. Today the wines of the Gallino family are known all over the world for expressing the Terroir del Roero in a clear and drinkable way.
