Cantina e Vini

The farm is located on the first hill of the Oltrepo Pavese in Montù Beccaria, an area long known for the production of quality wine. The surface area covers about 10 hectares under organic cultivation. The main variety is Pinot Noir, followed by Croatina, Barbera, Moradella, and Riesling. The company has been part of the natural wine circuit for over 10 years and was one of the founders of FIVI (the Italian Federation of Independent Winemakers). Since 2008, there has been a family-run agritourism facility with approximately 40 seats. In 2023, both the winery and the agritourism were completely renovated, with the addition of three overnight stay rooms.

Above all, we are a large family. Let us introduce ourselves: Tommaso, an oenologist, with a great passion for everything related to the wine sector. During my university years, I worked alongside my father Mario in managing the vineyards and cellar. Since 2017, I have been the owner of Piccolo Bacco dei Quaroni, and in 2020, together with my entire family, I initiated a significant renovation of both the cellar and the agritourism. Sara, also an oenologist, takes care of the hospitality and corporate communication. My involvement within the company is growing, and soon I will be working with Tommaso in the cellar, which is my true passion. Laura and Mario, we are both agronomists. Pursuing a dream in 2001, we took over the company, which already had a significant reputation in the area, especially for the production of Pinot Noir in red. Now, we support the new generation in company management, with Mario particularly involved in the cellar and Laura in the kitchen. Giulia, the overseas perspective and the jack-of-all-trades of the company.

We are artisans of wine, putting great care into the production of each bottle as if it were the only one. We have great respect for nature and our territory.

The ten hectares of land are divided into four distinct areas, each with a specific purpose:

La Fiocca: It is a closed valley facing North, surrounded by woods. Here, we cultivate on one side the base Pinot Noir for sparkling wine, and on the other side, the Pinot Noir for red wine production. It is also characterized by an area with a highly calcareous vein where we grow Riesling Renano. "La Fioca" in dialect means "it snows"; it is a valley that enjoys excellent temperature variation between day and night, ideal for the production of these varieties.

Fornacione: It is an open and warm valley. Here, on one side of the hill facing East, we cultivate Croatina, designated for the production of Bonarda Frizzante, and on the other side of the hill with an exposure to the West, we grow Barbera for our Ancestral. "Fornacione" derives from "fornace," as it used to be an area for the production of clay pots.

Campasso: It is a vineyard located on the roadside on a slope. Here, we cultivate Moradella, a native variety with late ripening that requires more warmth to mature. With this variety, we produce our MOREe wine.

Casa Padrone: This vineyard, over 30 years old, is the furthest from the company's main body. It is located in the municipality of Castana, an area designated for the production of Buttafuoco DOC. The cultivated grapes include Croatina, Barbera, Uva rara, and Vespolina, used to produce Buttafuoco Doc and historical Buttafuoco.

We produce 9 different types of wine:

PBQ: Vino spumante di qualità Metodo Classico Brut nature. 100% Pinot Noir. The name PBQ originates from "Piccolo Bacco dei Quaroni," as it is the flagship product of the company.

CRETE: Pinot Nero Provincia di Pavia IGT, a sparkling wine vinified in white. The name comes from the type of soil where it originates, predominantly limestone.

SIRE: Riesling Provincia di Pavia IGT, 100% still Riesling Renano. The name Sire emphasizes the importance of this grape variety, identifying it as the "King" of white wines.

LA FIOCCA: Pinot Nero Provincia di Pavia IGT, vinified as a red wine. The name comes from the vineyard "La Fiocca" where it is produced.

BUTTAFUOCO: Buttafuoco DOC Vigneto Cà Padroni; aged red wine. "Buttafuoco" is a blend of 4 grapes, named after the small DOC of the Valle Versa.

BUTTAFUOCO STORICO: Buttafuoco DOC Vigna Cà Padroni; aged red wine. This wine comes from the small DOC located between the Valle Versa and the Valle Scuropasso, the area where the Consortium of the Historical Buttafuoco Club originates.

IL MOREE: Vino rosso Provincia di Pavia IGT. The name is inspired by the Moradella grape, an indigenous and rediscovered grape variety in our area.

MONS ACUTUS: Bonarda dell'Oltrepo Pavese DOC vino frizzante. 100% Croatina. "Mons acutus" derives from the ancient name of the Montù Beccaria mountain.

LA POSA: Vino rosato Provincia di Pavia IGT, vino frizzante. 100% Ancestral Barbera. The name Posa identifies the slow settling of yeast following fermentation.
