Private Tikvesh Wine Tour with Wine Tasting & Lunch from Skopje
Here is what's in store for you
Your private tour begins when your guide picks you up in Skopje for a journey into North Macedonia's history and its primary wine region.
The first stop is the monastery of St. Panteleimon, a 12th-century Byzantine church set on the slopes of Vodno mountain, founded under the patronage of Prince Alexios Komnenos. Next, you will explore the archaeological site of Stobi, the largest Roman city in the country, dating back to the 1st century AD. You'll walk through its well-preserved amphitheater and see its unique mosaics and Baptistery.
The day continues in Tikvesh, North Macedonia's largest wine district, a region that shares latitudes with Bordeaux and Tuscany. At a local winery, you will be welcomed into the winery’s restaurant, which offers spectacular views over the Demir Kapija Valley. Here, you'll have a guided tasting of three wines paired with traditional dishes from the winery's restaurant. The menu includes a "Wine lover" appetizer with a Chardonnay, a main course of Chicken fillet "1 Million" with a Merlot, and a chef's choice of dessert paired with a dry white Temjanika wine.
This experience connects the country's ancient heritage with its deep-rooted winemaking traditions.
