About Winery and Wines

Our history dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. Our grandparents were winegrowers, they had their vineyards and wineries. They cultivated with the aim of making the best possible wine, in home cellars with manual equipment and clay jars, craftsmanship in its purest form. In the 1960s everything changed, they stopped making wine to sell the grapes. The second generation of the family are the alma mater of the Almavid project, with their efforts they have maintained and improved the treasures of their vineyards. Now it's up to us to recover what our grandparents did.
Since 2012 we have cultivated the old Garnacha vines organically with the aim of producing unique and exclusive wines.
Our vineyards are located in the north of Toledo, in the Méntrida PDO, influenced by the Sierra de Gredos, at an average altitude of 670 meters, with an extreme continental climate, sandy soils of granitic origin from the degradation of the Sierra de Gredos. with stone on the surface, acids, with little lime, clayey bottom, deep and special.
We work with minimal intervention in the winery, carrying out careful aging, in order to bottle the essence of our land, captured by the roots of our vines. Special, artisan, autochthonous and organic wines that excite the senses: Almavid.

We make organic wines, with DOP Méntrida-Toledo.
