About Winery and Wines

Argatia Winery has privately owned vineyards involved in the production and sale of Greek wine. In 2000, the first vineyards of Agratia were planted in Krasna, a moderately hot region of 270 meters in altitude. Science and modern technology, together with years of experience and a love of wine have been combined to create well-balanced biological vineyards of indigenous Greek varieties, all necessary for the production of high quality wines. The vineyards feature the native Greek varieties of Xinomavro, Negoska, Assyrtiko, Athiri and Malagousia that are best adapted for this region. In 2008, another vineyard of Xinomavro (clone V6 and V3) grafted on 110 Richter, was planted in the area of Lakka, at 260 meters in altitude, in more lighter soils (SL, SCL).

The area of Krasna is a mild hot region of 270m of altitude. Soils are SC and SCL, while Lakka is situated in 260 m of altitude and soils are lighter, mostly S to SL. In the area of Krasna we started planting our vineyards in 2000. The chosen varieties are Xinomavro (clone 6 and 3), Negoska, Moschomavro, Malagouzia, Assyrtiko , Athiri, and Mavrodaphne (experimental stage) grafted on 1103 Paulsen. In the area of Lakka plantation started in 2008 exclusively with Xinomavro (clone V6 and V3). The canopy management used is cordon Royat (Guyot in the case of Malagouzia) with more than 1.40 m net leaf surface and a density of plantation varying from 3000 to 3400 plants per Ha depending on variety. Vineyards are irrigated with 0 to 1.300m3 per Ha in relation to annual and summer precipitation and variety
