About Winery and Wines

Garino farm and winery is located in Cunico, a picturesque area in the northwest corner of Monferrato, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Founded by Luigi Garino at the end of the 19th century, the estate has flourished over four generations, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern practices, including a recent conversion to organic farming. In addition to wine production, the farm raises certified Piedmont breed calves, known for their high quality, and is a member of the "Strade del vino Monferrato" association, highlighting its commitment to excellence.

The estate produces a variety of wines, including Barbera d'Asti, Grignolino d'Asti, Freisa d'Asti, and Monferrato Dolcetto, which reflect the region's distinct terroir, characterized by calcareous and clay-rich soils. The winery prides itself on the tradition of handcrafting wines using natural methods. The current generation continues to honor the legacy of their great-grandfather Luigi, who first established the family’s winemaking roots by selling wine in wooden barrels transported by horse-drawn carts to the markets of Turin.

This long history, combined with the family's unwavering dedication to sustainable practices, makes Garino a symbol of both tradition and innovation in the Monferrato wine region.

Azienda Garino, located in the Monferrato region of Piedmont, is deeply rooted in the area’s winemaking tradition, surrounded by scenic landscapes of rolling hills and historic architecture. The vineyard's calcareous and clayey soils create the perfect foundation for producing aromatic and well-structured red wines. The winemaking process includes fermentation in traditional basins and aging in oak and acacia barrels, followed by a second maturation in the bottle, following lunar farming practices. This results in wines with rich aromas and balanced flavors, reflecting the unique terroir of Monferrato.

The winery produces a variety of wines, including Barbera d'Asti, Grignolino d'Asti, Freisa d'Asti, Monferrato Dolcetto, Piemonte Chardonnay, and Piemonte Rosato. These wines are crafted to embody the region’s centuries-old winemaking techniques and the estate’s commitment to quality.
