About Winery and Wines
Located in the heart of Trier, Bischöfliche Weingüter has a winemaking tradition dating back to 800 AD. The historic Roman cellars house 240 traditional Mosel casks (Fuder), where the wines are vinified using ambient yeasts and cool fermentation techniques. Specializing in Riesling, the estate combines centuries-old practices with modern techniques to create wines that highlight the unique terroir of the Mosel, Saar, and Ruwer regions.
Bischöfliche Weingüter Trier produces a wide range of Riesling wines, from Kabinett to Auslese, as well as Weissburgunder and red varietals. Their wines ferment in large oak casks (Fuder) or stainless steel, preserving the fresh, fruity characteristics of the grapes. The estate’s “Riesling Pyramid” offers a structured overview of different sweetness levels, villages, and vineyards, showcasing the complexity and richness of the Mosel region’s finest wines.
