About Winery and Wines

In September of 2012 the winery's new facilities were inaugurated, located on the Dehesa de Luna family estate next to our vineyards. A winery building was designed featuring clean lines and nothing superfluous, created to turn out quality wines while pursuing high standards of sustainability and efficiency through the thermal insulation of the construction work, temperature control systems, and the generation of its own power. The materials used, together with the nature of the terrain where it is located, allow the winery to meld perfectly into the landscape. The new winery is equipped with a computer system featuring the integrated control of all facilities to expedite management, oversight and maintenance operations. The grapes, harvested by hand, arrive at the winery in 12-kg boxes and are deposited in a refrigeration chamber for 24 hours. From this point forward, until the sale of the bottled wine, the temperature is constantly controlled. In the production area we have stainless steel tanks ranging in capacity from 10,000 to 20,000 liters, as well as 5,000-liter wood casks. The technical team uses one or the other in the vinification process depending upon the batch of grapes and the winemaking objectives pursued. The barrel room features a temperature and humidity control system.

The word that best defines our vineyards is undoubtedly EVOLUTION. Our non-conformism, open-mindedness, curiosity and perfectionism have driven us to modify and adapt the vineyards' structure and composition, drawing on scientific knowledge and the experience we have gained over the years while working in the vines at Bodega Dehesa de Luna. Currently, Bodega Dehesa de Luna is made up of three vineyards covering a surface area of 76 hectares (188 acres): El Viñazo, La Mata de la Culebra and La Cañada del Navajo. The first two, El Viñazo and La Mata de la Culebra represent the vines that were planted initially, which we call Vineyard 1.0. These vines are the ones we have worked with from our arrival until the present time and with which we can continue learning a great deal. To a large extent, these first two vineyards contributed to the creation of our third, La Cañada del Navajo, which can be described as having unique individual character on account of its exceptional complexity.
