Bodega San Mames is one of the oldest Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin wineries in the world. Our winery was founded in 1964 by the parents and grandparents of our current generation of wine-growers. 2014, therefore, will mark our 50th anniversary. In an effort to keep up with the times, we use cutting-edge equipment and we have also installed a new barrel room which is replaced every five years. However, our winery has lost none of its original character. The concrete tanks which were built way back in 1964 remain in use today. Our winery sells around 300.000 bottles of 'Doble R' wine every year. There is great potential for further growth in the future due to the number of hectares owned by our partners.

Our 'Doble R' wines are grown on plots with names such as ValdelasieRRa, CaRRapeñafiel, ToRReáguila, CaRRalacena, CazoRRA and Los GuijaRRales. Wine-growers such as the JuaRRanz, CaRRascal, ToRRe, ARRoyo and GuijaRRo families look after the land with loving care and attention. That's how 'Doble R' wines are born. We have 300 hectares of vineyards in total, which house free-standing bush vines and also wire-trained vines. Of these 300 hectares, approximately 100 are dedicated to our 'Doble R' wines. Some of these vineyards are up to 80 years old.
