About Winery and Wines

In 1985 Miquel Gelabert founded the winery bearing his name, known as “Vins Miquel Gelabert”. It was created to research and improve the vine growing in order to produce the best quality wine. Miquel combines the art and traditional techniques of the old wine growers with modern technology in order to bring out the best in his grapes and produce wines with personality and a unique character. From the outset, the wines have received a number of Spanish and international awards and recognition both inside and outside Spain. Over ninety awards in the last 10 years (most of them gold medals) endorse the quality of the wines produced by the winery, whose philosophy is to never stop surprising all those who try its wines. Miquel Gelabert continues to pioneer research into the local grape varieties and the use of grapes from other regions.

Today, the winery has 9 hectares of vineyards, split over over ten small estates, where all the grapes for our wines grow. They are situated on the island of Mallorca with the majority in the region of Manacor and the remainder in Felanitx and Petra. All of the land has been registered with the local regulatory council of the area known as “D. O. Pla i Llevant de Mallorca”. We grow all our own grapes and do not buy in any from third parties, allowing the winery to be in complete control of its entire wine production process. The winery currently grows more than 30 varieties of grapes, some of which are only on an experimental basis.
