Bodegas Abadía la Arroyada was founded by Vicente Muñoz Muñoz in Terradillos de Esgueva. He comes from a family with a long viticulture tradition. As a matter of fact his grandfather, Vicente Muñoz Vivar, devoted himself to elaborate large quantities of wine early in de XX century. What is more, he sold this wine to the local inhabitants. It is worth saying that some of those vineyards planted by that Vicente Muñoz are still producing grapes for Abadía la Arroyada’s best wines. Some years later Vicente Muñoz’s daughter, Lucila, and her husband, Julian, looked after these inherited vineyards during a lot of years. Therefore they grew more bush vines with a view to selling wine at the nearest villages. As a result of this wine-making tradition Vicente Muñoz Muñoz continues it. First he takes care of them and afterwards he plants much more vines till he reaches 20 hectares. In the begining he could not set up a cellar so he sold the grapes, then he finally decided to elaborate his own wines. Abadía la Arroyada fundation dates from 2002 and was due to the enthusiam and help of his beloved wife, Teresa Samaniego, his son, Ignacio, and his daughter, Angela.
