About Winery and Wines

Bodegas Lecea is located in the historic neighborhood of Las Cuevas de San Asensio.

On the same hill, there are more than 300 cave cellars built in the 16th century by the farmers of the village for the storage of wines at a constant temperature of about 13º.

The Lecea family has maintained four cave-openers in operation, where they continue to make their wines in concrete vats. The view of this winery will take us back to the origins of Rioja wine.

Bodegas Lecea was born from the passion of a family of winegrowers who have been dedicated to the cultivation of vines and the production of their own wines for more than five generations.

Don Rufino Lecea Blanco, in the 80s, began to change. He starts bottling his wines. He is followed by his son, Luis Alberto Lecea, who today remains at the helm of the winery and has succeeded in producing distinguished and successful wines, combining modernity and tradition.

Today, in addition to continuing to focus on the production of a wide range of wines, we strongly bet on wine tourism. The open character and warmth of all our members form the perfect combination to learn with us about wines and history during the visit to the winery and its wines. Throughout the year, we organize numerous wine tourism activities in which the visitor can feel at home while experiencing the tradition in person.

Young wines, aged wines, special wines, and the author’s wines, all made with grapes from our 30 hectares of vineyards.
