About Winery and Wines

Ca 'Duso is a family-run winery, located in the Province of Vicenza on the hills of the Municipality of Costabissara, in the area called "Prelessinia". The name ‘Ca’ Duso’ derives from the historic house in which the Duso family has stabilized and developed for four generations. On the cadastral maps of the area, there is in fact reported "Ca 'Duso", testifying to the historical presence in this territory. The purchase of the first fields took place in 1890 thanks to Duso Giobatta. Subsequently, the sons Angelo and Beniamino, buying new land, begin to cultivate the first vineyards, giving the grapes to the cooperative cellar. In 2005, the turning point: the brothers Giovanni Battista and Lino, third generation, decided to build a modern and independent cellar with the aim of enhancing their raw materials. Today the company has about 11 hectares planted with vines.

Ca 'Duso has an artisanal production approach, since the Duso family takes care of all the different stages from the vineyard to the cellar. For this reason, for some years he has also been part of the Italian Federation of Independent Winegrowers. Organic fertilization, absence of weeding, low yields per hectare, and manual harvests are the basis of qualitative and environmentally friendly production. The extraordinary difference in the conformity of the land has made it possible to cultivate, depending on the exposure and the nature of the soil, both red and white grapes. The choice was to focus mainly on confirmed international vines such as Pinot Nero, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, and Chardonnay but also on native varieties such as the emerging Tai Rosso and Garganega.
