Eccellente

2/1/24
Sicuramente torneremo. Grazie

About Winery and Wines

Everything started when Costantino Rozzi (the founder of the winery) had an intuitive leap in 1968 when he decided to produce and promote the Piceno wines and he started purchasing the first few vineyards in that year. Indeed, his first bottles of CDO Rosso Piceno Superiore date back to 1970. CDO Rosso Piceno Superiore can only be produced in 13 municipalities within the Ascoli Piceno district, in a hillside area overlooking the Adriatic Sea. VILLA PIGNA winery was set up in one of those municipalities, namely, Offida. The winery includes extensive premises, with wide underground facilities where wines mature in quality wooden casks at naturally-reached constant temperature, and a ground floor where wines are processed in concrete vats which ensure natural breathing, then transferred into steel containers before being bottled. The winery is surrounded by a 30-hectare plot of land, including a 8-hectare organically managed vineyard. Vines are both grown with Guyot pruning system and spurred cordon trained. The wide range of soil, height and exposure features allows harvesting grapes in various different periods, in order to make precise and technically aware assemblage decisions. Since 2003 VILLA PIGNA wines have been supervised by Riccardo Cotarella, a renowned winemaker, who shared with the company the growing popularity of its wines and the local area. After various periods of family turnover, nowadays the VILLA PIGNA winery is managed by Costantino’s daughter, Anna Maria, and grandson Giorgio. The winery, after two decades of outstanding performance both nationally and internationally, is currently focused only on the production of Rosso Piceno Superiore. This choice, based on the winery origins, might look controversial but it is based on the deep roots that the winery has always had with the territory and on the new management passion for the most emblematic denomination, which Rozzano wine might be the best representation of.
