Casca Wines was founded by winemaker Hélder Cunha to revitalise Portugal's vineyard heritage and express the unique terroir of every region where it works, with a focus on the authenticity carried by old vines. From the sandy coast of Colares to the terraces of the Douro (Monte Cascas), the maritime influence of Lisboa (Cabo da Roca), the altitude of Beira Interior (1808) and the purity of organic, natural winemaking (Cascale), Hélder Cunha's Fine Wines collection is a mosaic of Portugal's winegrowing regions — all embracing a single motto: “New Wines from the Old World”.

With over 25 years of winemaking, including experience in Napa Valley (USA) and the Rheingau and Mosel (Germany), Hélder Cunha produces terroir-driven wines recognised with high scores in leading national and international publications and exported to more than 35 markets worldwide. His work has reached wider audiences through the SIC series “Rotas do Vinho” and an appearance alongside chef Gordon Ramsay on National Geographic's “Uncharted”.

At the heart of Casca Wines is respect for the land: minimal intervention, native grapes, and small-batch, plot-by-plot vinification that lets each terroir speak with clarity, honesty and depth.

Winemaking Principles:

Little Intervention
We use wild yeasts and allow natural fermentations to unfold, requiring careful attention but resulting in wines of remarkable complexity.

Smooth Extraction
We prioritize soft, slow techniques that deliver vibrant flavors with an elegant texture.

Micro-Vinification
Each vineyard plot is vinified separately in small batches, allowing character and nuance to develop before the final blend.

Balance and Expression
We aim to capture the soul of each terroir, letting the wines speak for themselves—with clarity, honesty, and depth.
