Castello di Radda

Winery in Chianti, Chianti Classico

About the Winery

Castello di Radda is a storied estate located in the heart of Chianti Classico, an area renowned for its centuries-old winemaking traditions. The winery is nestled in the rolling hills of Radda in Chianti, a medieval village that has been at the center of Tuscan viticulture for generations. Castello di Radda was established with the goal of preserving and enhancing the unique qualities of its vineyards, which are situated on slopes with optimal exposure and soil composition for growing premium Sangiovese grapes.

Over the years, Castello di Radda has evolved by embracing modern winemaking technologies while remaining deeply rooted in the region's traditions. The estate covers 45 hectares of vineyards, all cultivated organically, a practice that began in 2015 and culminated in full organic certification in 2020. This commitment to sustainability reflects the winery’s dedication to protecting the environment and ensuring the longevity of its vineyards for future generations.

The winemaking philosophy at Castello di Radda is one of minimal intervention, allowing the natural characteristics of the terroir to shine through in the wines. The estate is equipped with a state-of-the-art cellar, where each stage of production is carefully controlled to maintain the highest quality standards. Today, Castello di Radda is recognized as a producer of some of the finest Chianti Classico wines, celebrated for their elegance, complexity, and ability to age gracefully.

About the Wines

The wines of Castello di Radda are a true reflection of the Chianti Classico terroir, with a focus on producing authentic, high-quality wines that express the distinct characteristics of the region. The estate’s vineyards are primarily planted with Sangiovese, the noble grape variety that is the backbone of Chianti Classico wines. In addition to Sangiovese, the estate cultivates small amounts of Canaiolo and Colorino, traditional grape varieties that add complexity and depth to the wines.

Castello di Radda’s Chianti Classico wines are known for their vibrant acidity, well-structured tannins, and rich aromatic profile, with notes of red berries, spices, and hints of oak from careful aging. The winery produces a range of wines, including Chianti Classico DOCG, Chianti Classico Riserva, and Gran Selezione, each offering a unique expression of the terroir. The Riserva and Gran Selezione wines are aged in large oak barrels or tonneaux, which contribute to their complexity and aging potential.

In addition to Chianti Classico, Castello di Radda also produces IGT wines that showcase the versatility of the estate’s vineyards. These wines are crafted with the same attention to detail and respect for the land, resulting in wines that are both approachable and sophisticated. Whether enjoyed young or aged, the wines of Castello di Radda offer a refined taste of Tuscany, embodying the region’s rich winemaking heritage and the estate’s commitment to quality and sustainability.

Wines with character
We had a very good time at this vineyard, located in a dream spot for people visiting Tuscany for the first time. Besides the ideal setting, the welcome was great, as was the tour.
During the tasting, the wines were all very good. I'm not an expert, but even though I've always preferred white wines to red wines, I was still very surprised by the smoothness and, at the same time, the character of each of the wines I had the chance to taste. I had a very beautiful experience! Thank you very much and all the best for the future.
Perhaps during the tour, we would have appreciated seeing a bit more of the outdoors and the vines, as well as how the grape harvest physically takes place.

We did the tasting at the winery.
The tasting was very satisfying and interesting. The staff was welcoming and professional.
We tasted some excellent reserve wine and an excellent vermouth produced by them.
I recommend both the visit to the cellar and the wine tasting.

Perfeito!
Tudo perfeito! Com certeza vou voltar aqui!

Great
Our waiter was excellent, he explained the differences and even made us taste two reserve wines not included in our tasting. We must absolutely taste their Vermouths.
All was good
