About Winery and Wines

Castello di torre in Pietra has been making wines since 1500, when the former owner was Pope Sixtus 5th, or pope "Peretti, who used to live at our castle behind the winery.
Today we make wines with different tecniques of course, and are organic certified.
We make 11 different wines, whites, rosè, reds and a sparkling "spumante". We use both international and local variety's of grapes.

We have as well, located Inside our winery,in the very old cantina, where in past the pope use to store the wines, a restaurant named " Osteria dell'Elefante", where we serve typical food from our region Lazio, and where we organize winetastings with our sommelier, cooking classes with our chef, teambuildings, lunch and dinner.

We organize guided visits of the winery. with the enologist.

our wines are organic certified. We make 6 whites, some with very local grapes like " Malvasia Puntinata Doc", " Fiano", "Vermentino", or International cuts like Chardonnay. A Rosè made with Syrah that has been vinified as a white wine. The reds are 5, made with merlot, Syrah, Montepulciano and a very local grape called Cesanese.
To vinify we use steel tanks and concrete vats, and oak barrels for aging.
