Château Maresque

Winery in South-West, Gaillac, Garonne, Tarn

About the Winery

Château Maresque, a vineyard with over 300 years of history, lies on the picturesque hills of Gaillac on the right bank of the Tarn River. Spanning 30 acres, the estate was revitalized in 1999 and passed to the next generation in 2023. Nestled in mollassic clay-limestone soils, our vines are influenced by the Mediterranean and Atlantic winds. With a focus on local varieties like Mauzac, Loin de L’Oeil, Braucol, and Prunelard, Château Maresque blends tradition and innovation to produce exceptional wines that reflect the terroir.

About the Wines

At Château Maresque, we produce a variety of award-winning wines from our unique terroir. Our range includes dry, sweet, and sparkling whites, alongside traditional reds, Cuvée Thomas, and reds aged in handcrafted oak barrels. The vineyard's southern exposure, combined with the influence of the Autan wind, allows for early ripening, resulting in wines with deep color, complex aromas of candied fruit, and rich spices. Our varietals include Mauzac, Loin de L’Oeil, Duras, Braucol, and Syrah, each contributing to the depth and character of our wines.

A magnificent experience
We had a wonderful experience with a very friendly guide. We learned and discovered a lot about the different types of wine as well as the characteristics of the region.
The red wine made from Duras is a really interesting discovery.

Great experience
We were very well welcomed.
It was a pleasure to have been able to learn the history of the estate and especially to have been able to taste the wines produced.

A personal experiencie full of history
If you want to visit an authentic local vineyard with little industrial intervention, this is the place.

Lucas is the owner of the vineyard and, although he might seem a bit reserved at first, once he starts sharing his story and dedication to wine, you can feel his passion for preserving the winemaking traditions of Gaillac.

Since we were the only ones at the tasting, the experience was very personal and welcoming. He lets you taste each wine freely while sharing stories in a friendly exchange of knowledge.

He’s a great host, very approachable, and makes you dive into Gaillac’s winemaking history through his own experience.

And of course, the wines are excellent in both quality and price — we took 4 bottles home!
