About Winery and Wines

Welcome to Domaine 'Alzipratu, nestled in the picturesque Balagne region of Haute-Corse. With a rich winemaking heritage dating back to 1968, our vineyard stands as a testament to excellence. Conveniently situated merely 8 km from Calvi and graced by the imposing Monte-Grossu, our sprawling estate spans about forty hectares. This verdant expanse proudly holds a place within the esteemed Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) Corse Calvi, a designation established in 1976.

For over three generations, the Acquaviva family has lovingly stewarded this estate. It was the visionary Maurice Acquaviva who initially cultivated sixteen hectares of vines in the enchanting Figarella valley. Presently, our vineyards thrive across diverse terroirs in the charming communes of Zilia, Calenzana, and Moncale, all within the embrace of the Figarella valley. The legacy of viticultural prowess was seamlessly passed from Maurice in 1968, to his son Pierre in 1991, culminating in the able hands of Marc'Andria, who became an integral part of the estate in 2018.

Nestled at the base of Monte-Grossu, reaching an impressive pinnacle of 1,937 meters, and within mere moments from the coastline, our vineyard reaps the rewards of a harmonious interplay between coastal and mountain climates. This dynamic contrast grants our vines a unique advantage. The Mediterranean climate guarantees abundant warmth and sunshine, while the mountainous terrain welcomes heightened rainfall, fostering a humidity level that proves conducive to vine growth.

Additionally, the close proximity to the sea introduces the invigorating essence of a marine climate. This coastal influence not only bestows refreshing coolness but also ushers in an array of cleansing winds that sweep through our vineyards. These winds play a pivotal role in the purification of our land and significantly shape the optimal conditions in which our vines flourish.
