About Winery and Wines

Truly exquisite wines and an amazing view in the heart of Saumur

Sustainable Growth with Two Pillars of the Loire: Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc

Philippe Porché, a passionate wine enthusiast, established Domaine de Rocheville in the Loire Valley in 2004 with the support of his wife Agnès and viticulturist Jérôme Callet. At the core of their philosophy lies the decision to cultivate their vines sustainably and organically. They constructed a state-of-the-art winery aimed at fully expressing the unique characteristics of their two grape varietals: Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc.

Today, they produce high-quality wines adhering to the standards of Organic Farming and Vinification.

Their range of wines (white, red, rosé, and sparkling) consistently earns awards in prestigious French and international competitions year after year, such as the Concours Général de Paris, Decanter WWA, and International Wine Challenge. Additionally, they receive outstanding ratings in well-known wine guidebooks.

The winery is now labeled "Vignobles et Découvertes," "Cave D’excellence – InterLoire," and the "Gold Prize at the Oenotourism Trophies" for 2019 and 2020. To experience these remarkable wines, we invite you to book a visit and take a tour of the winery. The cellars, vineyards, and terrace overlooking the Parnay valley and the Loire River are a must-visit for every wine lover.

The Saumur Champigny appellation locates in a small triangle between Tours and Angers. The clay-limestone terroirs of Rocheville are among the most interesting.

Therefore, Domaine de Rocheville produces four different styles of Saumur Champigny. Two of these are aged in stainless still vats with the purpose of keeping them light, fruit forward, with emphasis on a fine bouquet of red and black fruits. The other two are aged for a longer time in oak barrels. This ensures a long-lasting life with deeper tannins and flavors.

The name of their wines gives a small idea of their personality, the stainless steel aged wines are named the Page and the Prince and the King and the Jester for the oak aged wines. The winery grows exclusively Chenin Blanc for white wines, La Jouvencelle, La Dame and Le Clos de la Thibaudière, and Cabernet Franc for their dry Saumur rosé, Le Troubadour.

In addition to these, Domaine de Rocheville produces a delicate Crémant de Loire (sparkling white wine) called La Favorite and made from 100% Chenin, along with a sparkling rosé made exclusively from 100% Cabernet Franc.
