Super professional and extraordinary good guides (Dimitris and Elena).

Some good wines -

Salto has amazing nose but acid and not so friendly taste (probably perfect for firs cup with a salad and/or sea food seasoned with lemon to balance it).

Almira is balanced fruity-oak white.

Eclectique is very high quality oaked white.

Fleva Syrah is very good bodey/taste. Not the caracteristic Syrah with exploding nose and calm bodey - but a rather flat nose while nicely surprising oaked taste.

Gran Cuvee is a balanced red. Both nice nose and tasteful with some presence of oak. Certainly above average.

Megas Oenos - Surely not a bad wine but I did not feel anything very special. I likes the two reds above more.

Nice place to see as well.

Fantastic staff showing us around, as well as very well spoken English for any foreign tourists. Professional finish across the whole space. A worthwhile visit to see a good business especially with all the economic news surrounding Greece (gives faith to entrepreneurship).

About Winery and Wines

Our story begins long before the creation of Domaine Skouras George Skouras was born in Argos, one of the oldest towns of Europe with a 3,000 years long tradition of wine and culture. In 1980, George went to study Agriculture at the University of Dijon, in Burgundy, France. However, his acquaintance with the Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs of the region, as well as the famous local wine growers, put a spell on him. On graduating from Dijon with a degree in oenology, George started gathering experience in many classic wine-producing regions of France, Italy and Greece. A long-held vision, the creation of Domaine Skouras materialized in 1986. Initially, the small wine-making facility was in Pyrgela, a small village on the outskirts of Argos. The next logical step was the creation of a boutique winery in the Nemea Appellation area, in the village of Gimno. There, the countless hours of manual work on an extremely small scale became an invaluable study on the Agiorgitiko variety and the Nemea denomination.

Domaine Skouras currently cultivates the indigenous varieties grown in Argolida, Corinthia, Mantinia and Nemea, which are Roditis, Alepou and Moscofilero (all pink-skinned grape varieties, but usually used in white wine production), as well as reds like Agiorgitiko and, more recently, Mavrostifo of Argos, an old and almost extinct variety of the region. In addition, cosmopolitan varieties are also cultivated, such as Chardonnay, Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Merlot. The philosophy permeating all of the Estate’s wines is reflected in the words: – purity – varietal clarity – tracing of the region’s mesoclimate – imprint of the terroir. The whole viticultural team works, observes, supervises, acts and reacts, advises and consults with only one aim: achieving optimum ripeness, obtaining the best possible grape. The better the fruit harvested, the better the wine. Skouras wines are thrilling and all show the hallmarks of their creator: intensity, vibrancy and complexity, all expressed with elegance, grace and nobility. In Domaine Skouras, the wines are engraved by the character of their terroir.
