About Winery and Wines

The original Lower Eastcott Farm was established in the 16th century, probably as a tenant farm of the Ashbury Estate. In 2007 we took over the core buildings along with the remaining 12 acres. Our vision was to create a new era for the farmland and buildings by planting a 6 acre vineyard and building a modern winery. The business model is similar to a 'Farm Winery' in the US, concentrating on growing grapes, making wine and selling direct from the 'cellar door'. Eastcott Wines are fresh and fruity with a real English character. We have chosen styles of wine to suit our cool climate with a particular emphasis, therefore, on making sparkling wines. Our range also includes still whites and rosés. A combination of the best age-old traditions with modern equipment affords us the end to end control that we believe is essential for the production of small volume high quality wines. We nurture the grapes with intensive hands on care throughout the year until they are hand picked in the very best tradition. They then move into our modern winery, which in its former life was an agricultural barn. Here we favour a minimal intervention approach to the winemaking whilst at the same time bringing our own exacting standards to the process. Naturally each vintage allows us to learn and improve on previous years. This has led us to enter our wines into the UK Vineyard Association competitions and then more recently into international competitions, so that we can measure ourselves against the best in the world. We are very proud of our achievements to date but are continually aiming to exceed expectations.
