About Winery and Wines
Nestled in the serene landscape of Castellfollit del Boix, the Forn brothers, inspired by their father Joan’s vision, have revived a historic Catalan estate to craft organic wines in harmony with nature. This hidden gem, once a thriving agricultural domain in the 19th century, is now a sanctuary for sustainable viticulture, where vines grow alongside small patches of diverse crops, preserving the estate’s rich heritage and biodiversity.
At an altitude of 650 meters, the winery benefits from a predominantly continental climate, where dramatic day-to-night temperature shifts enhance the aromatic complexity of the wines. Every aspect of vineyard management is carefully tailored to low-yield production, ensuring the highest quality grapes, all hand-harvested in small 12-kilogram boxes to maintain their integrity.
With a deep respect for tradition and a commitment to organic viticulture, the Forn family invites visitors to discover a unique and secluded winemaking paradise in the heart of Catalonia.
The estate is dedicated to cultivating estate-owned, organically farmed vineyards, focusing on native and expressive grape varieties that thrive in the region’s high-altitude terroir. The key varieties include:
Picapoll Blanc – A distinctive white grape, known for its vibrant acidity and aromatic finesse.
Mandó – A rare and revived red variety, offering elegance, freshness, and a true reflection of Catalonia’s terroir.
Cabernet Franc – A structured and expressive red, influenced by the region’s unique climate.
Sumoll – A historic vineyard from 1941 has been carefully restored, reviving this once-forgotten native variety.
Each wine is crafted with minimal intervention, allowing the land, climate, and grapes to fully express themselves. By embracing organic farming and low-yield cultivation, the Forn family ensures that every bottle embodies the purity, tradition, and innovation that define their winemaking philosophy.
